Business Spotlight: Micah Children's Academy
All invited to April 11 Open House
Micah Children’s Academy will bring a unique approach to childcare when it opens late this summer. As part of Congregation Micah, Brentwood’s Reform synagogue, the academy will incorporate Jewish traditions but will also observe national holidays and encourage a diverse enrollment of children from all religious backgrounds.
Parents interested in enrolling their children or learning more are encouraged to attend an open house on Sunday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m. Enrollment opens April 1.

“This school is not your typical daycare."
-- Rabbi Laurie Rice
“The Micah Children’s Academy is a warm, nurturing and creative preschool experience for children ages 6 weeks to pre-kindergarten,” Rabbi Laurie Rice of Congregation Micah said. The academy can accept up to 83 children.
“This school is not your typical daycare.  It is a school with directed curriculum that encourages children to play, learn and grow,” Rice says. “Our intention is to be a three-star facility”— the highest level of star-quality for childcare in Tennessee.
Extracurricular activities will include yoga and gymnastics, specialized art, music and sign language. In keeping with a Jewish curriculum, 4- and 5-year-old students will take Hebrew classes, while pre-kindergarten students will study Spanish.
Students can explore carefully designed indoor spaces, as well as covered outdoor spaces in each of the school’s seven classrooms, allowing students to be outdoors rain or shine. Additionally, “We will have an eco-friendly, outdoor playscape to engage children physically and creatively,” Rice says.
An important part of childcare is providing convenience for parents. “We offer flexible days and times from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.,” Rice says. The school’s location, just east of the Hillsboro Road and Old Hickory Boulevard intersection, should appeal to parents in both Williamson and Davidson counties.
Competitive tuitions rates will range from $337 to $1070 per month, with extended care rates ranging from $44-175 per month.
At the April 11 open house, visitors can ask questions and meet with the director, Lynn Heady. Heady formerly served as director of curriculum and instruction for Williamson County Schools.
