Fun facts about the real Blind Side family, from Sean Tuohy….

When Michael Oher signed a huge contract with the Baltimore Ravens: “He didn’t give me any of it, I know that.”

On Michael’s personality: “He has an incredible gift to forget. That’s Michael Oher’s story.”

In the movie, Michael blocks an airbag from striking Sean (S.J.) Tuohy Jr. when the two hit a truck crossing an intersection: “The truth is, it was a head-on collision on a snowy day. And he absolutely stopped the airbag.”

About Leigh Anne Tuohy’s relationship with Michael: “He has an incredible relationship with my wife.”

About his own relationship with Michael: “I was the ATM machine. He has a trust problem with men.

“When you get to be 23, independent, with a pocketful of cash, call your dad,” he told BA’s students to laughter.

The difference between an interior designer – what his wife Leigh Anne is -- and an interior decorator? “A designer is the one who gets $500 an hour,” he said, noting he made the mistake of calling her a decorator “once.”
“I sleep with one eye open,” he added. Anyone who has seen the movie will understand.

Speaking of interior design …: Tuohy said that the home used for the filming was not their own, but similar. However when they first saw a screening of the movie, his wife said, “You think I’d have drapes like that in my house? Those are the ugliest drapes I’ve ever seen.’”

Brotherly love: In the movie, son S.J. does most of the talking when SEC coaches Phil Fulmer, Nick Saben, Ed Orgeron and Lou Holtz – all playing themselves – come to call. “He wore them out,” Sean Tuohy said of S.J. “The movie was kind.”

A special relationship: While S.J. and Michael are best buds, Collins Tuohy and Michael “are connected at the hip,” her dad says. “My daughter and Michael are inseparable.”
