The initial injury crash, at the 72. 4 mile marker just north of Concord Road, involved one vehicle and a motorcycle.
“Shortly afterward a secondary crash occurred behind the original crash involving four or five vehicles,” Assistant Police Chief Tommy Walsh told Brentwood Home Page. One driver in the secondary crash was critically injured and transported via Life Flight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
An update on the victim's condition was not available late Monday night.
Northbound traffic remained heavy on Franklin Road and Wilson Pike until after 8 p.m. as drivers avoid the interstate.
