In my past life I was an active person.  I enjoyed hiking, biking, repealing of cliffs, enjoying all kinds of exercise...then...I started my family.  My dream was to be the perfect mom, be there for my kids, allow them to try anything they wanted, keep them active, and pray that they would find a life long hobby that would keep them healthy and happy.  Fast forward 16 1/2 years...my oldest does not need me much anymore and my 12 year old is finding his way to some independence of his own.  D . . . [View Full]
Much of my life has been spent doing whatever activity I was doing, as an individual. Growing up showing horses, my participation on regular team sports was limited. My team was my horse, my trainer and myself. In a way, I think I was most comfortable with this because If I didn't perform well, I felt it only affected me. I had a really tough time with letting a group of my peers down and the thought of being the reason we lost the game, was too much. So joining the Be Healthy Challenge and bei . . . [View Full]

I wrote last week how my goal after this Be Healthy Challenge is to keep attending the MoveStrong group training sessions at the Maryland Farms YMCA. I want to keep doing that for two reasons. One, because I really like it! I like the workout. I really like the trainers. I can see a difference in my strength and the way my clothes fit. It's great stress relief for me. It is helping me meet my health goals. Etc. I could go on and on. And two, because I have friends there. It is really a social  . . . [View Full]
I have always wanted to do a triathlon.  I can remember the desire 12 years ago, but I'm sure it began before then. The problem is my brain thinks I'm still 22 but my body most definitely is not. I have a pretty fair amount of motivation that would get me off to a energetic start ready for the pain and endurance required. Then I would inevitably hurt myself and have to go clear back to square one and start all over (sometimes even behind square one). But the Be Healthy Challenge changed all tha . . . [View Full]
The way a person looks will significantly project a certain image to the people that the meet and see every single day. From the shoes that they wear to the clothes that they match it with, these pieces will help create a style that will exude a certain image. When it comes to bags, the same thing will apply. However, if one is a parent who needs to lug around a bulky and unappealing diaper bag with them while they travel, this can be quite hindering in presenting a stylish image. If you have a poor credit history, one way to improve it is by borrowing money and building a positive payment history. Wow, I can't believe this challange is almost over! After reflecting on this process, I'm happy with my accomplishments and am happy that I am rubbing off on my family. I got my 13 year old daughter interested in eating better and working out daily. I would like to do a half triatholon for starters and then eventually do a full triathalon. (baby steps) I would like to have my daughter do this with me to empower her and show her how she can accomplish anything. I would like to thankElements of M . . . [View Full]
i realize it's late to be adding Week 9,but I WANT to do it!as I sheepishly explained to Renne, I have these really strong plans about what my blog will say during the week, then hit roadblocks on Sunday night. Lame excuse, but it is what it is, and I LOVE to blog:) The deal for this week was a SMART challenge. Only too typical, I'm here on my iPad, trying to go through old emails to help me remember what each letter stands for. Too far back-- phone doesn't have it today.... There’s no need for that kind of nasty talk! I kid… sort of. That is to say, my preferred future activities will never be to run (a marathon, half marathon or even a 5K). You want me to walk it with you? I’m your woman! I even want to get faster. I love it because you can train on your own time. You don’t need any special equipme . . . [View Full]
