Subject to receipt of pending regulatory approval, Metropolitan’s Nashville team will work out of its new office at 1612 West Gate Circle, Suite 222, in Westgate Commons while it seeks a location in Nashville proper.

The Metropolitan Bank, the banking subsidiary of Metropolitan BancGroup, Inc., is a $560 million bank presently co-headquartered in Memphis and Ridgeland, Miss. After its successful acquisition of Bancsouth Financial Corporation and its subsidiary Bank of the South in 2008 and its acquisition of a Tennessee state bank charter, Metropolitan now operates six full-service banking offices in Mississippi and Tennessee.

The Metropolitan Bank offers a full range of financial products and services, including private banking services, personal and business checking accounts, online banking and bill payment, mortgages, home equity lines of credit, custom construction loans, commercial and consumer loans, treasury management, remote deposit capture and merchant card services.

Johnson is the second person hired to lead the Nashville division. She joins Nashville president Bill Menkel, who has extensive roots in the Middle Tennessee banking community.

“We have taken some really crucial steps in Nashville in choosing our first managing director and securing our first office space,” said Menkel. “The Metropolitan strategy has always been to attract the highest-quality talent, and the recruitment of commercial and mortgage bankers remains a high priority for Metropolitan.

Johnson brings more than 18 years of experience in the Middle Tennessee banking industry to the position. Most recently, she served as a vice president and commercial lender for Brentwood-based Reliant Bank after spending 10 years in various leadership roles with NBC and SunTrust Bank.

Johnson received her undergraduate degree in financial institutions management from Middle Tennessee State University and a graduate degree in retail and commercial banking from the Southeastern School of Banking.

Johnson’s community involvement includes service as a board member for the Brentwood Family YMCA; a steering board member of the Young Professionals Council; vocational services director for the Brentwood Noon Rotary Club; chair of the Leadership Brentwood Alumni Association. She is active with the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce and is also involved in Women in Commercial Real Estate Nashville. A member and Sunday School teacher at Brentwood Baptist Church, she is also a graduate of both the Brentwood Citizens Police Academy and Citizens Fire Academy.

“Sarah has done a tremendous job and has developed a great reputation in the Nashville market, and we are extremely pleased to have her on board,” Menkel said.
