Alyssa Gargano
Alyssa Gargano, a Senior Cheerleader is a little melancholy about wrapping up her cheerleading career at Ravenwood. She has cheered all 4 years and was the captain of the team this year.
Her coach, Jamie Katolick states, "Alyssa was the one who always gave the other girls pep-talks, and is always so happy and positive. She is a great leader and great friend to all."
With her afternoons now free, Alyssa will be able to spend more time with her close friends, her sorority RGC, and working at Abercrombie. She admits to occasionally coming home with a head ache from the loud music.
Recently her sorority headed up a care package drive for the victims of Haiti, which Alyssa said was one of the most rewarding things she has ever done. Alyssa also loves to swim and is a lifeguard every summer at her neighborhood pool.
Alyssa has 3 siblings - Madison, Amanda, and Justin and her parents are Dawn and Aldo. Dawn makes the beautiful cakes at Publix! This Fall Alyssa will be attending MTSU, majoring in Fashion Merchandising and Marketing.
Alyssa's claim to fame is always being asked if she is one of the Kardashian girls. "That makes me happy, I LOVE Kim and watching the show is probably one of my main hobbies!"
Junior - Dance Team
The Woods Hockey Team
For the second year in a row, the Brentwood/Ravenwood Hockey Team co-op, "The Woods", won the Henry Hine Championship Game.
The March 3rd game against Blackman was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation.
Goals were scored by Stephen Tedder and Ben Herrmann with assists by Matthew Pollack and Oliver Moore.
"The Woods" then played three 12-minute overtime periods before Nate Longest assisted to Andrew Falls who scored the winning goal.
Michael Cox had the game of his career, stopping 33 of 35 shots on goal in the 73 minute contest.
Congratulations "WOODS"!!
Thomas Allen
Thomas Allen, a Senior Forward and Captain of the Ravenwood Basketball Team has also been named to the All-District Tournament Team.
Thomas has played Varsity for 3 years , and this season averages 11 points, 7 rebounds per game. Thomas' best memory from this year's season was "against Brentwood. We were down 8 points with 3 minutes left in the game. We ended up winning by 4 and I scored 11 points in the 4th quarter alone."
Thomas states the team's success this year have been due to good coaching, and especially due to the closeness of the team.
"One of the hardest workers on the team is Benjin Facer. I admire his work ethic the most."
"Our assistant coach, Josh Howard has always believed in me. He has inspired me to be a leader on and off the court, and to never give up."
Another good friend on the team, Tevin Matich works with Thomas at Foot Locker and will be roommates at University of Tennessee this fall. Thomas will decide in the Fall about being a walk on to the UT Basketball Team.
Thomas' parents, Ken and Mary Jo keep busy watching all their kids play basketball. Joseph is on the Freshman team at Ravenwood, and Emmy plays for Woodland Middle.
Something interesting about Thomas is that he listened to Owl City before every game to get focused.
Preston Stapp
SHE SAID YES!!! ATTENTION LAUREN SPANGLER....
Brave Preston Stapp is the Senior Goalie on the BHS Lacrosse Team. In the 2009 season Preston was named the #1 Goalie in Williamson County, and was selected to the All-District Team. He has also been team captain his junior and senior year.
With the 2010 season just getting underway, Preston already has 35 saves on 46 shots on goal. Preston handles the pressure of the goalie position well.
"It always comes back to the goalie. Good or bad, games are won or lost due to the goalie. And I will protect our goal at any cost."
Preston credits Coach Catterton for his success. "He always trusts me with my position, and has helped me with the mental aspect."
Although Preston has received many recruitment letters, he has decided to hang up the stick and is going to the University of Alabama, where he will major in International Business.
He also enjoys spending time playing golf, working at a lacrosse camp, and attending the Titans, Predators, and Vandy games. Preston's parents, Kenny and Lynda will be busy attending graduation parties this Spring as his sister Annie is also graduating from DePaul University.
A fun fact about Preston is that he loves to cook, "it relaxes me." He also admits to being very inquisitive, sometimes asking dumb questions. So, the big question now is...
