Ravenwood High School Brentwood High School

Abbi Aydelott
Senior Abbi Aydelott is the definition of "girl power".  She is the catcher for the Ravenwood softball team, a cheerleader, the Homecoming Queen, and can beat all the boys at the card game Kemps in study hall.

"I'm probably one of the few catchers that can do a round off back handspring into home plate!"  Abbi's current stats in softball include a .964 fielding percentage and a .289 batting average.

Being devoted to the two sports over the past four years has consumed Abbi's time.

"The seasons overlap, but my coaches have been so supportive by letting me practice for both when I needed to," Addi states.  "Coach Smith, my cheerleading coach, also played softball and cheered all through high school, so it's fun having that in common."

Abbi also credits the positivity of her softball coach for keeping her going, when she felt too tired for yet another practice.   She has never played on a softball travel team, admitting summer is her down time to catch up with friends.

Abbi will be attending the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in the Fall, and will be leaving cheerleading and softball back in Brentwood.  She is excited to be rooming with good friend Kim Davis, and will decide on a major when she gets there.

Abbi's dad Ron is the football coach for Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, and her brother Aron is a freshman at Ravenwood playing football and baseball.  Mom, Colleen, stays busy keeping the family calendar straight with all the sporting events!

Ashley Rahrer
Ashley Rahrer might be the only World Series softball champ to walk the halls of BHS.  She did it in 2005 with her 12 and under coed softball team in Pigeon Forge.  Ashley, a junior has played softball since she was four years old, and currently plays second base for the Bruins.  She describes herself as a "dependable player".  "I make the play's I need to make."

Last year, in the first week of summer break, Ashley broke her collar bone while playing travel softball.  It required surgery and Ashley was couch bound for the rest of the summer.

"It was truly the hardest time of my life.  By the end of the summer I could go to the pool, but just sitting inside about killed me!"  This summer Ashley will play as much as she can, focusing on improving her hitting.

Ashley has also been a Mat Girl for the wrestling team since her sophomore year.  She is a member of the National Honor Society with a 3.98 GPA, plays in her church basketball league, and is in a high school sorority.

"I love being a Mat Girl, but it is a ton of work!  There are 13 of us and we keep all the scores and stats for every wrestler at every meet and tournament.  Sometimes we are there for 12 hours a day!  We had a really exciting season this year though."

Ashley's parents are Kathy and Brad, avid tennis players, and her older sister Lynnsie, also a tennis player will be graduating this May from college.

Ryan Fitzpatrick
As the baseball district playoffs approach for the 9 - 1 Ravenwood team, no one is looking to beat Brentwood High more than senior Ryan Fitzpatrick.  Ryan is the Raptors #1 pitcher and also plays center field.

He leads the team with his batting average ofh .420, and is 15th of 16 in stolen bases.  He is one of four players to hit a home run this season.  Ryan plays on the travel team, Team TN, and last summer played with the Ravenwood "Dirt Bags".

Ryan credits Ravenwood baseball coach Chad Kirby for his success.

"He's a great coach, and an even better friend.  He can always tell when I'm not quite "on" and knows exactly how to get me back on track.  I'll miss him, but hopefully I will be playing close to home and can visit."

The perfect scenario for Ryan is to play baseball for Belmont College, and major in communications.

"Coach Jarvis and Coach Hall are the best in the business, I would love to play for them," Ryan states.

Like most seniors in Ryan's position, awaiting word from the college you dream of playing for is as stressful as it gets for a family.

To keep the stress level low, Ryan enjoys heading down to the beach, hanging out with his good friends, and sorry girls, spending time with his girlfriend Summer Green.

Jeremy Coffey
Bruin football is a family affair for the Coffey family.  Jeremy is a senior, and broke more records this year as a running back than the books could keep up with.  His dad, Otis Coffey, is an assistant coach handling the defensive line.

Coach Coffey is also the school's beloved SRO officer.  Sophomore brother Nicholas is a defensive end on the varsity team.

"That was the best part of the year for me," Jeremy says, "being able to play with my brother and having my dad coach us.  It was just really cool."

Mom Frederica sat in the stands with her eyes closed most of the time.  "She worried a lot, especially once Nicholas was out there too!"

In the 2009-2010 season Jeremy broke three school records as a running back.  He passed the 1500-yard mark in rushing, had the longest touchdown run of 98 yards, and had the most rushing yards in a game with a total of 226 yards.  If that isn’t enough, he also scored 20 touchdowns, and had the game winning score against Gallatin.

"It was a really close and fun team," Jeremy states. "We gelled well with the juniors, it just all clicked."

Jeremy has his sights set on playing football for TennesseeStateUniversity.   "There is absolutely no where else I want to go, nowhere else I want to play.  TSU is THE school for me."

Jeremy keeps in shape for football by running on the track team.  He runs the 100, 4x100, and 4x200.  He broke the school record his junior year in the 4x100 relay.  His dad is also his trainer.

So what is Jeremy going to miss most about Brentwood High?  "Definitely Coach Crawford's speeches.  I always looked forward to those speeches."
