Jacob Poag
Senior / Football

Jacob Poag is a senior at BHS and member of the football team. Jacob plays defensive end on the team and was proud of the performance he had against Independence during the regular season.

“My only hope is that I repeat the same level of playing in the playoffs,” Jacob said.

He credits Coach Jay Gore, his first line coach, with helping his game. “Coach Gore made me much better, by working me and instilling leadership and a strong work ethic in me. My current coaches have coached me to be a better player and individual,” Jacob said.

Jacob would like to attend the U.S. Military Academy at West Point or Auburn University for Army ROTC.

His parents are Mark and Carrie Poag.

A fun fact about Jacob is that although he loves hamburgers he has “never eaten a hamburger at Burger King.”


Kori Bates
Senior / Soccer

Kori Bates is a senior at BHS and member of the soccer team. She was captain of the team this year and played defense during the season.

“I enjoyed being the captain as people looked up to you as the leader," she said. "We had a great group of girls on the team.”

Kori is a member of Young Life outside of school.

Coach Cal Long “has been a great coach and very supportive over the years. He helped push me to be the best I could be,” Kori said.

Kori would like to attend UT-Knoxville next year and is undecided about what she will study.

Her parents are Sherry and Jeff Bates.

When asked to share a fun fact about herself, Kori said: “I sleep with a night light.”

Robert Pomeroy
Sophomore / Football, wrestling

Robert Pomeroy is a sophomore at RHS and member of the junior varsity football team. Nominated for his play at linebacker, Robert is a valuable member of the JV team.

In addition to football, he plays recreational basketball and is on the wrestling team. Robert also is a member of the Skeet and Trap Club.

The coach that has impacted Robert’s the success the most is former Sunset Coach Clay Mayes. “He is a great role model for me. He has taught me everything I know in football and life,” Robert said. Another coach who has made a difference to is, “Coach Neil has been my mentor and my coach. He has been sharpening what I’ve already been taught and making me a better player for the years to come.”

Looking ahead to college, Robert would like to play football and is open to scholarship offers. His top pick of schools is UT-Knoxville  or Tennessee Tech.

Parents are Robert Pomeroy and Erinn Bushman.

When not playing football, Robert says “I’m usually deer hunting. I go almost every weekend during the winter. I love that it starts right after football season.”

 

 
abrina Florey
Freshman / Cross country, lacrosse

Sabrina Florey, a freshman at RHS, is a member of the cross country team, which won the state championship last Saturday.

“Finishing third on the team and sixth overall at the Williamson County Cross Country Championship with a time of 20:19, these were Sabrina’s seasons best times,” Coach Pete Mueller boasted about his athlete.

In addition to running, Sabrina plays for the lacrosse team, swims for a team outside of RHS, is a member of student council and FCA, and attends Young Life.

The coach who mentors Sabrina is cross country coach Peter Mueller: “Coach Mueller always encourages us to do our best and give it our all; I had not heard this from many past coaches. When I came to Coach, it really did click.”

Sabrina, not making any decisions on college yet, is enjoying her time in high school and loves being a part of the Raptor community.

Her parents are Ross and Debbie Florey.

Max Staver

Junior / Football

Maxwell Staver, a junior who plays football at BA, was nominated for his play at quarterback. This is actually his first year at BA.

Having played football since Maxwell was seven years old, football is his passion.

The coach that has made a difference to Maxwell is Coach Ralph Potter. “Coach Potter has impacted me the most because of his ways of teaching me," Maxwell said. We have developed a strong relationship, which is important for a QB and his coach. He holds me to a high standard which helps me improve a lot. He also talks with me weekly about staying humble and staying focused.”

All major SEC teams have been taking a look at Maxwell, “except for Florida,” he said. In addition Stanford and Purdue have scouted him this season.

His parents are Bob and Debbie Staver.

A fun fact Maxwell shared about himself is “I love to eat. A second job deciding where I want to eat, I’m not kidding. I really love eating.”


Jaclyn Heckle

Senior / Soccer

Jaclyn Heckle is a senior at BA and captain of the soccer team. For school Jaclyn plays center mid or forward and on her travel team plays center back.

School activities include FCA, student leadership team, Kairos and Habitat for Humanity. Outside of school Jaclyn is an active member of Brentwood UMC’s Sonshine Choir and youth group, and works in the church nursery.

Her Brentwood Premier travel coach Brandy Gagliano has “greatly impacted my success by pushing me harder, to train harder and give my best at every practice and game.” With statistics that include second in the nation for her travel soccer team, fourth in regions and first in state, it is clear why Jaclyn was chosen athlete of the week.

Jaclyn will play collegiate soccer at UT=Martin on scholarship and is looking to major in accounting or business.

Her parents are Steve and Connie Heckle.

Jaclyn's fun fact she shared: “I love sushi, it’s my favorite food. Peter’s is the best.”
