Chudi Echetebu Senior / Football
Chudi Echetebu is a senior at BHS and member of the varsity football team. Although the team came up short in its quarterfinal playoff game, Chudi gave 100% effort trying to keep the Bruins alive. Nick-named “Choo choo Train” by his teammates, Chudi plays running back and safety for the team.
Coach Crawford has inspired Chudi by “pushing me to reach my fullest potential.”
As a senior Chudi is making plans to attend college where he would like to study psychology and one day would like to be either a pharmacist or dentist.
Chudi hopes to play college football and his top choices are UT-Martin, Tennessee Tech or MTSU.
His parents are Ken Echetebu and Jacqueline Renner.
A fun fact about Chudi is “I like to play smooth jazz. It calms me.”

Kelly Severino Sophomore / Volleyball
Kelly Severino is a sophomore at BHS and plays volleyball for the Bruins. Known for being the outside hitter on the team, the young player has gained a reputation as a solid player on the team.
In addition to playing for the school team, Kelly plays for Alliance in travel volleyball. “Marcia Thompson has been my coach the past three years, and has always pushed me and believed in me,” Kelly said.
Already looking ahead to career plans, Kelly would like to one day be an elementary school teacher and get her master’s in education.
Her parents are Mary Anne and Roger Servino.
A fun fact about Kelly is that “I transferred here last spring during my freshman year from Hillsboro and LOVE Brentwood!”

J.P. Liederbach Senior / Basketball, football
John Liederbach, or J.P. to his friends and coaches, is a senior at RHS and was nominated for his outstanding efforts on the varsity basketball team. J.P. played tight end on the football team and sports has been a big part of his life. He credits his Dad for teaching him everything he knows today about sports.
As a senior J.P. is looking ahead to college and although undecided at this time, Old Miss is one of his top choices. In addition he hopes to one day work with young people and maybe be a basketball coach himself.
His mom is Nan Liederbach and siblings are Brendon, Bridgette and Maddie.
A fun fact about J.P. is that he fosters homeless dogs. “The first one I found on the street and then it went from there,” J.P. shared. A big-hearted young man is a gentle giant off the court.

Jayne Rice Senior / Basketball
Jayne Rice is a senior at RHS and is point guard on the varsity basketball team. In addition to playing for the high school team, she plays AAU basketball and coaches Brian Collins and Spencer Richardson have “pushed me over the years and been an influence in my success as a basketball player,” Jayne said.
While basketball is important, Jayne has big career plans ahead as she plans on becoming a surgeon one day. Stanford and Spelman are her top picks for colleges, and Jayne plans to study chemistry.
Her parents are Melvin and Valerie Rice.
A fun fact about Jayne is that the girls on her basketball team call her Coco. Why? “I always put on cocoa butter lotion before the games,” Jayne tells. Good athlete, and she smells good too.

Bryant Nelms Freshman / Bowling
Bryant Nelms is a freshman at BA and member of the bowling team. With an average of 180, this young athlete has been competing for the past four years. What began as a fun hobby has turned into Bryant becoming well known in the bowling circuit as he competes in tournaments. Franklin Lanes is where you can find Bryant bowling on a regular basis.
Coach Pittman, a teacher at BA, is Bryant’s favorite as “he likes bowling a lot like I do.”
Although college is four years away, Bryant hopes to attend a school that offers bowling and continue competing in tournaments.
His parents are Danny and Dana Nelms.
For his fun fact Bryant says “I love playing Airsoft with friends.”

Shelby Collins Sophomore / Cross country, track
Shelby Collins is a sophomore at BA and runs cross country for her school. In the spring Shelby runs track and running is a big part of her life.
“Coach Cheeseman has impacted my entire history of running. She has specifically impacted my success this season because she continuously encouraged me to push what I thought my limits were. Her encouragement allowed me to push through a few setbacks in the early season and end stronger than I have ever been,” Shelby said.
Although not making college plans yet, Shelby has an interest in becoming a sports physical therapist.
Her parents are Jay and Angie Collins.
A fun fact about Shelby: “I have a little sister who was a freshman on the cross country team this year, and I absolutely loved getting to run this season with her!”
