B.J. Jarnagin
Junior / Hockey

B.J.  or “Beej” Jarnagin is a junior at Brentwood High School and member of the hockey team. B.J. also plays AAU basketball and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

B.J. said that Dr. Thompson is the teacher who “has inspired me because he has taught me good life lessons that dealt with situations off the ice and outside of the classroom.”

B.J. is planning to attend college and has not narrowed down his search although one plan is for sure, “I will go to college and get a good education and play sports in college if I have the opportunity.”

His parents are Patty and Barry Jarnagin.

A fun fact about B.J. is that other than his dad at home, he is surrounded by all women with twin sisters, Halle and Sara, and two half-sisters Brooke and Lyndsay. 


Halle Jarnagin
Senior / Basketball

Brentwood High School senior Halle Jarnagin plays guard/wing on the varsity basketball team and plans to play basketball in college.

Asked who has impacted her success on the court, Halle said: “Coach Seig has always encouraged me and believed in me. He has pushed me to be the best basketball player and is like another dad to me.”

Although Halle has not finalized her decision of where she will attend college, she plans to major in psychology.

Her parents are Patty and Barry Jarnagin.

A fun fact about Halle is that her twin sister also plays on the varsity team.

Tanner Reynolds
Junior / Wrestling

Ravenwood High School junior Tanner Reynolds is a member of the wrestling team. Having wrestled since he was in the fifth grade, Tanner has earned the nickname of “T-Ren” among his teammates and friends.

Tanner said that his middle school teacher/wrestling coach "Tim Drinkwine made a difference as he kept my interest in wrestling at its peak and motivated me as a scholar-athlete, not just a dumb jock.”

Tanner would like to apply for the Marine ROTC scholarship, participate in college ROTC and serve for a few years with the Marines.

His parents are Jana and Charles Holt.

A fun fact about Tanner is that he has a twin sister who also goes to Ravenwood.


Kathryn Ervin
Senior / Cheerleading

Kathryn Ervin, a senior at Ravenwood High School, competes with the Ravenwood cheerleading squad and is also on a competitive dance team at Legacy Dance Studio.

Three cheer coaches have impacted Kathryn’s success: Mrs. Coleman, Ms. Katolick, and Ms. Feyes. Her two dance coaches have “believed in me” and they are Mrs. Cathy Turner and Shawn Siminic.

College plans include studying at Appalachian State in Boone, N.C., where Kathryn will study social work and minor in dance. Long -term goals include a masters degree and becoming a licensed social worker specializing in family adoption.

Her parents are Jodi and Tom Ervin.

Zachary Spires
Senior / Hockey

Zachary Spires, a senior at Brentwood Academy, is the star goalie for the BA-Ensworth combined hockey team.

The coach who has inspired Zachary with his hockey is “Coach Elliott because he not only pushed you to do your best, he is constantly encouraging and is always there ready and willing to help.”

With plans to play hockey in college, Zachary has been accepted at the Universities of Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Alabama-Birmingham. In the next few weeks Zachary will visit the University of Pittsburgh to play with its hockey team. At this time this is his top choice of schools.

Zachary plans to major in biomedical engineering and pursue the field of medicine.

His parents are Walter and Gigi Spires.

A fun fact Zachary shares about himself is that “I currently lead all of middle Tennessee in number of shutouts this season.”


Jai Murphy
Junior / Basketball

Jailen Murphy, a junior at Brentwood Academy, is a member of the basketball team who starts at forward. Having played since she was 3 years old, Jai has a goal to play college basketball. Her lifelong dream is to play for the WNBA.

The teacher that has inspired Jai to success is “Ms. Vasquez because she’s always there when I need help.”

Jai’s dream school to attend is LSU and if she does not become a professional basketball player, she would like to be a nurse practitioner.

Her proud mother is Monique Hodges.

A fun fact about Jai: “I love the Lion King, and my favorite character is Mickey Mouse.”
