Jacob Freeman
Junior / Wrestling

Jacob Freeman is a junior at Ravenwood and a member of the wrestling team at school. In his freshman year he left his mark by placing third in state, and this past year he came in sixth.

Quite an accomplishment for this young athlete who takes his sport seriously and credits a very special coach from middle school for his success: “Coach Mayes is where it all starts. He is the main reason I got into wrestling. I played noseguard for the Sunset football team, weighing 68 pounds and only 4-feet, 6 inches tall. Coach Mayes asked me to join the team. I talked my parents and finally convinced them to let me wrestle. The basics of wrestling came to me like second nature. I used the most basic move, the half-nelson and pinned all my opponents in Williamson County my eighth-grade season with it.”

Jacob also credits coaches Drinkwine and Peck with his success with wrestling. In the off-season he competes with Ultimate Wrestling Club.

Jacob has set goals for himself to attend Ohio State University and to wrestle and play football at the collegiate level. He plans to major in engineering

His parents are Don and Michelle Freeman.

A fun fact about Jacob is “I play drums in a band.”

Keely Paxton
Freshman / Dance team

Keely Paxton is a freshman at Ravenwood High School and member of the dance team. When the Ravenwood dancers competed at the state competition, Keely participated in the competition with a broken foot.

Asked who has impacted her success with her dancing, Keely shares: “Min-Young Kown, my former gymnastics coach, for teaching me the importance of discipline and hard work. Kristen Hawk, my RHS dance team coach, for believing in me and pushing me to be my best.”

Although college is a few years off, Keely dreams of becoming a veterinarian someday. She also plans to pursue being on a dance team at the collegiate level.

Her parents are Don and Heather Paxton.

A fun fact about Keely is “I have only been dancing a little over a year and three of those months on a broken foot.”
