Austin Sanders
Senior / Football

As a three-year starter for the BHS football team, senior Austin Sanders is making the plays despite Friday’s tough loss against Smyrna.

Playing both ways as slot and safety, Austin's highlight plays for the 2011 season include a 33-yard pass reception last Friday night, and an interception which he ran back 88 yards against Cookeville.

Austin has received the Academic Award for the football team for the past two years.  He currently holds a 4.41 GPA, and scored a 32 on the ACT.

College choices include Auburn and Tennessee, but Austin’s dream is to pursue a career in the military and he is beginning the application process to attend one of the prestigious academies.  He would like to study medical and/or nuclear engineering.

A highlight of Austin’s summer was a nine-day camping trip through the Colorado wilderness with his YoungLife campaigners group.

Peyton Lee
Senior / Cheerleader

One of Peyton Lee’s favorite things about being a BHS cheerleader is the responsibility of being a good ambassador for the school.  For every home game the cheerleaders make sure the visiting team feels welcome, and always provides snacks and drinks for the other cheerleading squad.  BHS is one of the only schools that do this.

As captain of the squad Peyton is in charge of hospitality, decorating the football players' lockers and getting special treats for them on game day, painting spirit signs the entire week, looking cute, and then practicing stunts and creating routines for hours a day.

Peyton’s twin sister Ashton has also been a BHS cheerleader all four years, but Peyton admits being a little more into it than Ashton. Her junior year Peyton was awarded the Most Outstanding Varsity Cheerleader.  As a flyer her favorite thing to do is the stunts, namely a double down from a basket toss.

Peyton plans on attending the University of Tennessee and is considering trying out for the Vols' cheerleading squad.

Caitlin Boone
Junior / Soccer, rugby

Caitlin Boone is such a versatile and talented athlete she was actually recruited to be a kicker for the Ravenwood football team.  Unfortunately for the team, Caitlin is too busy playing soccer for RHS and with the BWSC '95 Premier Elite team, and rugby takes up her spring season.

Caitlin plays center back as a defender, and although no stats for defenders are kept, Caitlin stays on the field for the entire game.

Rugby became part of Caitlin’s life when her father, Richard Boone, started the rugby team at Brentwood High School in 2001. He left BHS to coach at Ravenwood after the high school was built.  Caitlin states her father has been the person / coach who has impacted her success due to his teachings of “drive, commitment and integrity.”

Caitlin is also involved with YoungLife, student council, and the math honors society.  She is undecided about college.

Alyssa Ivey
Senior / Volleyball

In true RHS volleyball team fashion, senior Alyssa Ivey will be graduating a semester early to begin her collegiate volleyball career.  Alyssa has committed to play for MTSU, where she is also very excited to study to become a nurse.

A member of last year’s state championship team, Alyssa was named Regional MVP and to the All-State team.  Stats from last year as a hitter and setter include 610 assists, 200 kills, and an impressive 99 serving percentage – only missing 1 serve the entire season.

Alyssa has been on the same travel team through Alliance since she was 12.  In July the team placed third at nationals. Jay Golsteyn, coach of the Alliance team has had the most impact with Alyssa’s volleyball success. “He is the reason I have been able to achieve these goals I never thought possible,” she said.

Graham Shuler
Senior / Football

At 6-foot-5, 265 pounds, BA offensive tackle Graham Shuler is probably the scariest person you can imagine on the football field.  Off the field Graham is everyone’s favorite teddy bear.  One of the top recruits in the nation, Graham verbally committed to play for Stanford University over the summer, one of the elite few athletes to choose their college before their senior year starts.

Following last season Graham was named to the All-State team and was a Dandy Dozen pick. In BA’s first two games Graham has been cracking heads and is really looking forward to this Friday’s game against MBA.

Graham states that he has loved every teacher and coach he has ever had at Brentwood Academy, but offensive coordinator Coach Jason Mathews has had the biggest impact.  “Coach Mathews has been a consistent positive example for me as a person, and pushes me as a player,” Graham said.

Coming from an athletic family, Graham’s father played football for Auburn, and his mom played volleyball at Mississippi State.  When not training for football Graham is on the BA track team, and is involved with the Wounded Warrior Project and Daystar Ministries.

Caylyn Harvey
Senior / Soccer, basketball, track

Athletic Caylyn Harvey is constantly playing a sport be it soccer, basketball, or track for Brentwood Academy – or playing her favorite, beach volleyball, on vacations to Florida.

With the school soccer season just under way, Caylyn scored a goal against Ravenwood in BA's first game.

Caylyn finished track season last spring with fourth place in the pentathlon, and sixth place in the triple jump at the state meet.

With all Caylyn’s athletic abilities, her focus for college is to receive an academic scholarship and play in as many intramurals as possible. She plans on applying to 11 colleges with her top choices being Harvard and the University of Virginia.

Caylyn credits teachers Mrs. Dobbins from sixth grade, and Mrs. Stewart, a mentor and history teacher, for instilling in her discipline, responsibility and a good work ethic.

Caylyn is the oldest of four children, and her parents are Mindy and Tim Harvey.  Fun Fact: Caylyn appeared on America’s Funniest Videos when she was 3 years old, but she did not win.
