Story and Photos by WENDY HOSSE For Brentwood Home Page It was a wonderful walk down memory for past teachers and students who reunited Friday for the 40th anniversary of Northside Junior High / Brentwood Middle School. The day started with a breakfast and tour of the school led by the BMS student government leaders with many of the original Northside faculty attending.

Of the original cast, only one teacher remains on staff at BMS. Liz Cleveland has been the PE teacher since Northside first opened its doors in August 1972. In an afternoon assembly, Cleveland was honored for her devotion to the school that preceded neighboring Brentwood High School by 10 years.
Past principals and teachers, as well as county officials, current area principals, and Williamson County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney attended the assembly. The BMS band performed and the school’s music class led by Will Lambert sang a Josh Groban song, “You Lift Me Up”.
After Brentwood Middle’s current principal Bill Harlin spoke of the school’s history, Dr. Looney presented the school with a special award for Academic Excellence, followed by a student-created video presentation showcasing the school's past four decades that featured teacher interviews and early pictures of the school.
The day ended with a reception and planting of the anniversary tree on the school grounds.
