Regular start times at county's public schools resume
Brentwood Home Page news reports
After a two-hour delayed start Tuesday, Williamson County Schools returns to regular schedules today.
While most of the bus routes are clear, there are still some roads that are not passable. If a child does not have bus service and a parent can’t take the child to school, the student will be excused. Some roads will be impassable indefinitely, and the district will continue to evaluate road safety in transportation zones.
“I want to thank the students, parents and staff for their cooperation as we opened schools today,” said WCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney said Tuesday. “I think it is important that we begin the process of getting back to a normal routine as best we can. Because our facilities are ready to serve our students, we can provide students and staff a stable environment during these difficult times.”
According to school officials, student attendance for Tuesday was 95 percent with teacher attendance at 93 percent. “The 93 percent is a typical attendance rate for this time of year,” Human Resources Director Judith Looney said. “We had the same 93 percent attendance rate last Tuesday as well.”
Many schools will be working with the community in the days and weeks ahead to provide assistance to flood victims.
