Little Texas will be followed by the Nashville Symphony on June 12; The Devonshires on June 19, the WannaBeatles on June 26, Who's Bad: Michael Jackson Tribute Band on June 10 and 7 Bridges: The Ultimate Eagles Experience on July 17.
As always, The Kadillacs will headline the city's biggest party of the year, the annual Fourth of July concert and fireworks celebration.
Linda Lynch, the city's community relations director, says she hopes the crowds never get so big that people have to be turned away. But she has watched the concert crowds grow each summer right along with the growth of the city.
"There may come a time when we have to close it down, but we have such a good working relationship with Holy Family Catholic Church and the nearby schools that we've been able to accommodate everyone," Lynch said.
The concerts are rain or shine, with only lightning forcing a cancellation. "If it's at all possible, we start each concert at 7 p.m.," Lynch said. With the large canopy, "the rain doesn't stop the performers."
Well, except for one group of musicians.
"The symphony is a little different," Lynch said. The Nashville Symphony will make its annual appearance on June 12, as part of its Regions Community Concert series. With hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of instruments on the stage at one time, "they decide if it is too hot or too cold or too wet to play."
The laid-back atmosphere is another big draw for the thousands who gather at the park, located off of Crockett Road, for six Sunday nights and the Fourth of July each summer. "It really is a family event. Brentwood is a family-oriented city, a growing city," Lynch said. "And the concerts are a good, safe place to bring the family."
Picnics are encouraged.
The rules are few: No grills, no smoking, no alcohol, no glass bottles. Nothing on wheels, like skateboards, inside the bowl.
"We do have a lot of problems with dogs," Lynch noted, who emphasized that canines are not allowed within the grassy bowl proper. "It's not because we don't like dogs; we have a new dog park now," Lynch said. If you bring your dog, be sure to stay outside the sidewalk that encircles the amphitheater's outside perimeter.
Brentwood Fire & Rescue will again have medics on bikes patrolling the area, and Brentwood Police officers will be stationed near both ends of the stage to respond to any emergencies, from lost children to medical events. If you need help, this is the place to send a request, Lynch said.
This year the series has three corporate sponsors. Bancorp South returns as it has for many years. "They've been with us almost from the beginning," Lynch said. Also signing on with financial support are Tom Ford Construction and Darrel Waltrip Automotive Group.
