Brentwood Home Page staff reports The Williamson County Association of Realtors celebrated the installation of its 2012 Board of Directors and recognized several members and officers for outstanding service at a special luncheon event at its new Brentwood headquarters on Nov. 17.
Outgoing president Danny Anderson acknowledged the great strides the association had made in the past two years, not the least of which is the new WCAR building, located in Westgate Commons. In expressing his appreciation to all who had helped him during his tenure, Anderson quipped, “I hope I don’t pull a John Boehner on you,” he said, referencing the U.S. Speaker of the House known for being quick to cry. “I’m a pretty emotional guy.”
As is custom, Anderson presented a President’s Award. He noted that traditionally the president gives the award to the person who has offered the most support and encouragement and “had your back during your term.”
“That person is my best friend and my son, Reid Anderson,” he said. Both Danny and Reid Anderson are affiliated with Bob Parks Realty’s Franklin office.
Incoming president Melissa Clough presented Danny Anderson with several gifts for his service. She called Anderson a “gifted leader and a good friend.”
“He will be missed but his impact will not be forgotten,” she added, noting Anderson had led the association through the process of buying the land and building the WCAR headquarters.
Mary Lankford Benson received the award for Affiliate of the Year. Benson, senior vice president of Tennessee Commerce Bank, was recognized for her support of the WCAR, including the annual board of directors’ retreat.
Matt Ligon received the coveted Realtor of the Year award – an award his mother had received years earlier. This award is based on a member’s commitment to Williamson County and involvement in the association.
“I remember when my mother got it and I was so proud of her,” said Ligon, a Broker with Zeitlin and Co. Realtors of Franklin. He has been a WCAR member since 1992.
Two awards were given to WCAR member offices for their support of RPAC, the Realtor Political Action Committee. Homes by Parker received the award for most participation for a small office and Zeitlin and Co. Realtors-Franklin, received the large office award for participation.
Prior to the luncheon, the association honored all past-presidents with a special reception.
