While tonight's girls basketball game between the Lady Bruins of Brentwood and Lady Raptors of Ravenwood doesn't mean much for the seedings in next week's district tournament, both teams would like momentum heading into the postseason.
Ravenwood has wrapped up first place in the district, but Brentwood could still tie Hillsboro High School for second place with a win tonight. The game begins at 6 p.m. at Brentwood.
Brentwood head coach Ron Seignthaler said his team now knows the style Ravenwood wants to play. Ravenwood's defense gave the Lady Bruins trouble in their first matchup on Jan. 22, holding Brentwood to three points in the second quarter and going on to win 38-28.
The Lady Bruin's have bounced back from the defeat, winning four out of their last five games, three of them by double-digit margins.
"We are better now that we have these games under our belt," Seignthaler said.
The Lady Raptors lost their first district game Tuesday to Franklin and are looking to get back on the winning track. Ravenwood girls head coach Ron Brock said his team learned "[Brentwood has] some very good and talented players and are very well coached," during the teams' first game.
Going into the final stretch of the season, Brock said, "We are playing well and our strengths and weaknesses change from game to game."
