The Lady Bruins and the Lady Raptors battled to a 0 – 0 tie after 80 minutes of play. In a true test of character each team mounted continuous attacks but to no offensive avail. The tenacity of the Lady Raptor defense and goalie Rose Hull stopped more than 14 attempts on goal. The Brentwood defense stopped approximately 3 attempts on goal by the Lady Raptors.
The first half was dominated by the Lady Bruin offense making pounding run after run at the Lady Raptor goal. However, in the second half at approximately the 18 minute mark that Raptor goalie Hull stopped freshman Meg Howard’s attempt at the goal.
The teams continued to trade punches until the 1 minute mark when the Raptors had one of their 3 attempts on goal. Savannah Shipman, goalie for the Bruins, made a tough defensive save. A game marked by intensity and speed of play reflected in the exhaustion of the players after the game.
Next up for BHS will be Gallatin on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at BHS. This will be senior night and the seven seniors, Jani Lakeman, Christine Caldwell, Savannah Shipman, Katie Kroska, Grace Boto, Shannon Thompson, and Carly O’Connell will be recognized and honored for their commitment to the BHS Lady Bruin Soccer program and their outstanding accomplishments on and off the field.
So, the battle is unresolved. Both teams played a strong overall game, clean and tough soccer. Ravenwood's next game is away at Beech on October 6 and their next local game is Centennial on October 13.
RHS junior varsity walked away with a 1-0 victory over the BHS junior varsity. Caitlin Boone took a hard shot which bounced off the BHS goalie. Eleanor Leffler came in and cleaned up with the only goal of the game.
