Brentwood-based Southern Land Co., a multi-faceted real estate development company, has selected KP Properties, Inc., as an upscale custom home builder in Windstone, according to Southern Lane president Brian Sewell.

Windstone is a high-end, gated community located just off Murray Lane in Brentwood.

KP Properties has already begun work on speculative homes on two lots in Windstone. Within given allowances, the buyers of these homes will have input on selections throughout the remaining phases of construction. The buyers will also have the right to make changes, select upgraded finishes and add to given specifications, all at their own expense.

 “KP Properties is an excellent addition in Windstone,” said Jim Cheney, spokesman for Southern Land.  “Their quality work speaks for itself, but the homeowners have also given rave reviews. This community has a limited number of lots, so Southern Land is very thorough in choosing the builders who will create new homes here.”

KP Properties specializes in new construction, from small homes to multi-million dollar estates. They also handle home additions, remodeling, outdoor living, exteriors and landscaping work. Over the last few years, they have constructed custom and speculative houses in the areas of Brentwood, Tyne Boulevard, Vanderbilt and 12 South.

The company is owned and operated by Kelvin Pennington, and his son Tyler. Kelvin began working as a real estate agent in Brentwood in the late 1980s, but quickly moved into the construction side of the market. After constructing his first home in 1988, he has continued building in Williamson County and southern Davidson County over the last 23 years.

Tyler grew up working around job sites. He started a floor fastening business while in high school, obtained contractor’s and real estate licensing while still in college and then officially joined the family business after completing a degree in accounting.
