Great opportunities at Graceworks abound Graceworks Ministries invites you to put together a team and join them at their annual Golf Fore Graceworks fundraiser on Monday, August 23 at Nashville Athletic and Golf Club in Brentwood. Graceworks is the relief provider for the American Red Cross and Second Harvest Food Bank for our area. They are a Christian-based, nonprofit ministry funded by individuals, businesses, civic groups, churches and the Graceworks Thrift Store.
The recession and the flood have provided historical challenges this year for Graceworks. Generally, they supply the basics of life to help move families past a point of crisis. The ministry and their volunteers also offer prayer and spiritual support but help is never denied based on faith.
Graceworks began in 1995 to help several local churches screen requests for assistance and determine the validity of the need for food, monetary help or clothing. In 2009, Graceworks served over 7,500 households and touched the lives of over 21,000 people in Williamson County, thanks to the help and support of our partners, volunteers and churches.
Graceworks’ ministries also include a food pantry and a thrift store. This Saturday, August 7, the thrift store is hosting a furniture sale. Volunteers are needed to man the store starting at 9 a.m. If you would like more information about the sale or volunteering, click here.
The food pantry and thrift store are in need of regular volunteers and offers training to those interested. On August 11, 14, 19 and 25, you can receive training.
Graceworks welcomes your donations to both the food bank and thrift store. They are available to receive donations on Tuesday through Saturday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Your donation is tax deductible, as allowed by tax laws.
Current donations are still needed for flood victims including new queen size sheet sets, new kitchen towels, new queen and full size blankets. They accept clothing of all sizes, household items, toys, appliances (must be working), televisions, and furniture (in good shape, with no major tears or stains). All clothing must be clean and in bags or boxes.
Graceworks will schedule pickups in Williamson County for furniture and large appliances. Please call 615-794-9055 for additional information. Click here for the Graceworks Ministries, Inc. website.
