Following a months-long surveillance of a residence in the Stonehenge subdivision, Brentwood Police officers arrested a juvenile on charges of drug possession for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a weapon.

The investigation began in early October after the police department received several tips about suspicious activity, police spokesman Capt. Tommy Walsh told Brentwood Home Page.

“We conducted an investigation which began almost immediately upon receiving the complaint into this matter,” Walsh stated, adding that the investigation included surveillance both at the home and elsewhere.

Based on information gathered through the surveillance, officers obtained a search warrant for the property. The warrant was served on Dec. 1 and the suspect was taken into custody at that time and charged with multiple offenses in Williamson County Juvenile Court.

Because the suspect is a juvenile, his identity is not being released. The suspect was released to his parent’s custody.

The suspect was released to the custody of his parent. “Juvenile suspects are rarely held and are not required to post bond,” Walsh explained. “The case is set to be heard in Juvenile Court in January.”

Walsh said details of what was located during the search cannot be released yet as the case is still pending.

Asked about current drug use and drug trafficking trends in Brentwood, Walsh replied, “We are fortunate that we don’t have street level drug dealers to worry about, but certainly the use of illegal drugs is occurring in Brentwood just as it does in every other city.

“We offer multiple programs including DARE to combat drug use and educate children on the dangers of drugs. We are committed to investigating complaints involving drug sales and abuse and will aggressively prosecute those found to be in violation of the laws of the State of Tennessee.”

Walsh noted that there have been no other arrests directly related to this case. “It is possible that additional charges could be filed at a later date, but we are not searching for additional suspects at this time,” he said.
