Mike Eldred: The Very Best of John Denver
Bank of America Pops Series, Thursday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, at 8 p.m.
John Denver’s music endures, thanks to his string of hits including “Rocky Mountain High,” “Thank God I’m a Country Boy” and “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” For this dynamic evening of music and memories, stage veteran Mike Eldred’s soaring tenor will bring Denver’s songs to life, creating an intimate conversation between performer and audience.
Natalie Merchant with the Nashville Symphony Sunday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Natalie Merchant joins the Nashville Symphony for a special evening surveying her prolific career. With her compelling artistic vision and captivating performance style, she’ll include selections from her most recent recording, Leave Your Sleep, a collection of songs adapted from poems. Come hear this singular talent in a setting tailor-made for her gorgeous voice.
Mahler’s Fourth SunTrust Classical Series, Thursday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Nov. 18 and Saturday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m.
Be among the exclusive first to hear a world premiere by Richard Danielpour, whose music is visceral, romantic and distinctly American. Darkness in the Ancient Valley will feature the gorgeous voice of soprano Hila Plitmann, who will draw out all of the emotion at the heart of this piece. Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero continues the symphony’s quest to be among the few orchestras to perform all of Mahler’s symphonies with the Austrian composer’s Fourth, a more intimate yet dazzling Mahler masterpiece. This concert will be recorded for future release.

Kings of Salsa Tuesday, Nov. 22, at 7 p.m.
This stunning stage extravaganza pays homage to Cuba’s greatest performers and dance styles, with a cool, contemporary modern twist. Some of the island’s finest dancers will perform an intoxicating mix of salsa, hip-hop, mambo, rumba and other classic Cuban moves. Featuring the spectacular nine-piece band Cuba Ashire, Kings of Salsa showcases a slice of Cuba never seen before onstage.
