James H. Ellis Jr.: Veteran, family man

James H. Ellis, Jr.  passed away June 14, 2011.  He was survived by his children, Jay Ellis (Stace) of Brentwood, Tenn.,  Kathy Fetterman (Jim) of The Netherlands; grandchildren, David Ellis (Rebekah), Asheville, NC, Steve Ellis (Beth), Fairfax, VA, Drew Fetterman, Philadelphia, PA, Ashley Fetterman, Boston, MA, and Anneliese Fetterman, Cleveland, OH.

Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by wife Georgia S. Ellis and sister, Martha Redd, Augusta, GA.  

A native of Graniteville, SC, he was raised in Atlanta and Augusta, GA. During World War II he fought in the Battle of the Bulge as part of the 87th Infantry Division. Mr. Ellis received a degree in textile engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.  After graduation, he and his wife moved to Akron, OH and raised their family there.

Mr. Ellis worked in  purchasing for the B.F. Goodrich Co. They retired to Mt. Pleasant, SC, but later moved to Cupertino, CA and lived with their daughter and family for four years.  They moved to Brentwood  over two years ago to live near their son. 

A memorial service was held Jun 17 at Christ United Methodist Church in Franklin with Rev. Carol Cavin-Dillon officiating.
