New program teaches self-rescue to ages 6 months to 6 years
Brentwood Home Page news reports The Infant Swimming Resource Self-Rescue™ program will be taught at the Indoor Sports Complex, 920 Heritage Way in Brentwood, the Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department announced.
The Self-Rescue™ program goes beyond traditional swimming instruction by teaching children self-rescue techniques to help them survive should they reach the water alone.
The Infant Swimming Resource program offers individualized instruction for infants and young children from six months to six years of age, teaching competence and confidence in the water.

Children group swim lessons also scheduled
Additionally, three sessions of group swim lessons for children, taught by Excel Aquatics, will start April 2 at the Indoor Sports Complex.
Session I will be Saturdays only, April 2, 16 & 23 ($30). Session II will be Mondays and Wednesdays ($80), April 4-27. Session III will be Tuesdays and Thursdays ($80), April 5-28.

Ongoing adult programs announced for April
The county parks department also offers a variety of classes for adults and children at the ISC. For more information, view the monthly newsletter at www.wcparksandrec.com.

Water aerobics: Meets daily Monday through Friday. A shallow water class meets from 8:30 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. daily, and a deep water class meets from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Class fees are $3 for youth/adults and $2 for seniors (55 and older). Annual passes and punch cards do not cover class fees. No registration is required. Walk-ins welcome.
Zumba with sculpting: Instructor Carolyn Rudin mixes Zumba with body sculpting, blending cardio and strength training into one great workout. Zumba with Sculpting meets on Mondays, April 4 & 11 (skip 4/18 & 4/25) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ($20) or Thursdays, April 7 & 14 (skip 4/21 & 4/28) for $20.
Core strength & stretch: Carolyn Rudin teaches this class centered around strengthening the abdominals and low back for 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes of gentle yoga to relax the muscles. For people of all sizes, shapes and fitness levels that are in good general health. The program is offered on Tuesdays, April 5 & 12 (skip 4/19 & 4/26) from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The cost for the two-week course is $20. Please bring a yoga mat to class.
Zumba: Try this Latin and international dance class. Combining hypnotic musical rhythms and tantalizing Latin dance moves, Zumba is a dynamic workout system designed to be fun and easy. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Instructor Carolyn Rudin will offer a two-week course on Fridays, April 8 & 15 (skip 4/22 & 4/29) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. ($20).
