Hopefully, Skippy Lou, like Mickey, will be found; Elvis sighting
Hopefully, Skippy Lou, like Mickey, will be found; Elvis sighting | BrentWord, Brentwood Home Page, Susan Leathers, brentwood tn news, Brentwood City Commission

Brentwood pulled together to find Mickey, the little lost Westie, earlier this summer. Now we all need to put out an APB on Skippy Lou.

If you’ve seen the flyers or read our freelancer Allison Smith’s story over the weekend, you know that Skippy Lou is Jill Napier’s best friend. Jill is fighting cancer with almost everything she’s got – everything except her beloved dog, a retriever mix that has been missing for two weeks.

About 25 people came together Saturday morning, including one woman who drove from the Kentucky state line, to try to find Skippy Lou. Debbie Mims, Jill’s friend who was dog sitting while Jill recuperated from surgery, told me Sunday despite the all-out effort, Skippy Lou wasn’t seen.

“I wish there were good news to share,” she said.

If you missed our story with all the details, a description and pictures of Skippy Lou, click here. It took a village to find Mickey, I have no doubt we can find Skippy Lou too.

If you see her, call Mims at 738-0085.

The King sets his sights on a bear claw
While Skippy Lou hasn’t been seen, you won’t guess who turned up at the Puffy Muffin recent. Who knew that Elvis was still alive and well and loves Puffy Muffin? I’m sure that was the King in the video incorporated into The Glory Bugles’ latest comedy show, 800 Miles Off Broadway, presented late last week and over the weekend at Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville.

He entered the Brentwood Hill Center restaurant right after Queenie Delphine and Beulah Byrd, two of the four members of the not-quite-ready-for-Broadway gospel quartet took the first peek into the glass cases filled with baked goods.

Lynda Stone, Puffy Muffin’s founder and owner, had a starring role in the video, and looked as shocked as those watching her in the video that Elvis himself had come to check out all the goodies.

He left almost as quickly as he arrived. But he was there. I promise. Even if I did witness it only on the medium screen.

Sure hope they post it on Youtube soon; I’m not sure who’s going to believe me without it.

Prepare for 'Battle' Brentwood
It’s Battle of the Wood week and if you don’t have plans for Friday night, you do now. We’re entering week four of the prep high school football season and it doesn’t seem possible but the annual Ravenwood-Brentwood game is here.

This year’s rendition of the “big game” takes place at James C. Parker Stadium at BHS. With the Bruins at 2-2 and the Raptors, under new coach Joe Rietveld at 2-1, this could be the most competitive “Battle” in the past few years.

We’ll be there, hope to see you there too!
