Realtors group celebrates ribbon cutting at new location
By AMY STUMPFL For Brentwood Home Page It took more than 25 years, but the Williamson County Association of Realtors (WCAR) finally has a place to call its own.
In late February, the organization relocated to its new building at 1646 Westgate Circle, Suite 104, in Brentwood. And WCAR celebrated the move with an official ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday, March 29, welcoming an enthusiastic crowd that included WCAR members, past association presidents, elected officials, and local Chamber representatives.
“This building is something that we know the membership will be proud of,” says Tiffany Cheuvront, executive vice president for WCAR. “We looked at several locations, but this really fit our needs so perfectly.”
As the 2011 WCAR board president, Danny Anderson agrees, pointing to Westgate Commons’ proximity to Interstate 65 as a major plus.
“It was very important for us to be centrally located for our members,” Anderson says. “And, of course, we’re very excited about the space itself. This dream has been years in the making, and we’re thrilled to see it finally come to fruition.”
Cheuvront says that WCAR worked with one of its members, Ron Kocina of Brentwood Brokers, LLC, to demo the old Joe’s Crab Shack and build a new 6,400-square-foot facility.
The building was designed by Michael Hindman Architects and built by Southland Constructors. Jim Cross of Century Construction built out the interior space, which was overseen by WCAR’s building committee.
“Many hours of work by many people went into every aspect of making our new location member-friendly,” Cheuvront says.
The new facility features tasteful, modern decor with ample windows providing plenty of natural light. A bright, open reception area provides ready access to staff offices and a Realtor store. The space also includes a large boardroom, along with several smaller lounge areas.
A spacious training and event center boasts the latest technology, as well as a catering kitchen. The room – which opens out onto a patio overlooking the Westgate Circle water feature – is also available to the public for special events.
In addition, the Arts Council of Williamson County has provided an extensive collection of original artwork, photography and even furniture, which will remain on display through June 30.
WCAR will celebrate 50 years of service in 2012. Established in 1962, WCAR is the leading regional advocate and provider of information services, research and education on the real estate industry for brokers, real estate professionals and the public. With approximately 1,400 members, WCAR serves the professionals and consumers in the Williamson County area.
