Public encouraged to attend 7 p.m. 'game show'
Brentwood Home Page news reports

Biggest Loser. American Idol. Survivor. Lightweights all.

The biggest reality show in Brentwood takes place Thursday at 7 p.m. in the city's Municipal Building. TV crews will be on hand to tape all the action and the competition is expected to be fierce, though no blood will be drawn (though any number of wars may play a starring role).

The city’s first History Bowl, pitting teams from Brentwood and Ravenwood high schools, originally was scheduled to take place Feb. 10 but Mother Nature had other ideas. The competition between Advanced Placement U.S. History students was pushed back a week which only gave the teams more time to prepare for battle.

City Commissioner Anne Dunn said at Monday night's City Commission meeting she fully expects the normally quiet second-floor board room to be anything but tomorrow night. And she wants a crowd.

The event, hosted by the Brentwood Historic Commission, will be taped for rebroadcast on the city’s public access Channel 19. The teams will compete for the Sarah Bayrd American History Award, named for the beloved late AP American history teacher who substituted at both schools after her retirement from BHS, where she taught for over two decades. Bayrd died late last year while traveling abroad.

The evening will be full of fast-paced history questions moderated by retired NewsChannel 5 new anchor Chris Clark and Talk of the Town host and producer Meryll Rose. Both Clark and Rose live in Brentwood.

The Bowl will consist of a Jeopardy-like round and a final lightning round.
