$70,000 needed to build Fairview home Brentwood Home Page news reports Bright and early Saturday morning, Brentwood Academy, Brentwood High, Ravenwood High, Currey-Ingram and other Williamson County high school students involved with the 2012 Habitat High build will begin delivering packets as part of its annual “Knock and Deliver” campaign.
This year the students are raising $70,000 to build a Habitat for Humanity home in Fairview. The build is scheduled to begin Feb. 25.
“This endeavor has been instrumental in helping many of our students to raise the funds in the past and hopefully this year will be another success”, says Joanne Hayward, the sponsor from Franklin High School. “We do other things to raise the money but this one really focuses on support from the local community. We are 150 students strong and many have already logged 20 hours in getting the packets ready.”
Not every school uses “knock and deliver” as a means to raise the funds but several do. There are nine schools that are involved in building the home, Brentwood High, Brentwood Academy, Battle Ground Academy, Centennial High, Currey-Ingram Academy, Franklin High, Independence High, Ravenwood High, and Summitt High.
On Saturday, students will be leaving information at homes that will ask for a financial contribution to help cover the “bricks and sticks” costs of the build.
