Growing congregation begins weekly service Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood Baptist Chinese Congregation has welcomed a new pastor, Dr. Yunhan Gwo. The growing ministry, considered a small church within Brentwood Baptist’s four walls, also hosted its first regular 11 a.m. worship service last Sunday, Oct. 9, in Baskin Chapel.
The Chinese congregation already has nearly 100 adults, students, and children that meet together throughout the week. Before Gwo’s arrival, members were already active, hosting an annual outreach event and two revivals each year. Now that he’s here, they now provide a regular place for local Chinese to come and worship together in community.
Gwo, originally from Taiwan, graduated with an English degree from a college located in Taiwan, then pursued further education at Taiwan Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity degree. Later in life, he migrated to the United States and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. here he received his PhD.
“Coming here was the perfect match for me. … When I got to know this church’s vision and mission it lined up with what should be,” Gwo said. “Our first priority is to reach out to the Chinese people in our community and then help our congregation reach out to their neighbors. I’m very grateful to be here and witness one miracle after another.”
Brentwood Baptist is a congregation of 5,000-plus located at 7777 Concord Road.
