By ANDREW SKWARA For Brentwood Home Page You'll have to excuse Brentwood Academy's boys golf team from not wanting to see anymore of Hendersonville High's squad this year.
The Eagles have already won two tournaments, and both times they had to edge out Hendersonville to narrowly finish on top. Two weeks ago at the Davidson Invitational, the Eagles won a playoff over the Commandos. That was followed by beating their rivals by two strokes at the Bluegrass Invitational in a event that Hendersonville was hosting.

“I don't want to see Hendersonville again. They've got a good team and I'm sure they hold some grudges against us now,” Brentwood Academy Coach Parker Page said with a laugh.
Page's team combined for a score of 313 at the Bluegrass with Taylor Davis leading the way with a 72, which tied for low medalist honors (he lost the individual playoff). Arizona commit Dylan Healey carded a 76, while Matthew Broadbent shot an 82 and Tyler Emery had an 83.
“Taylor played really strong. A 72 on that course is very impressive. Bluegrass is tight and you have to keep it in play,” Page said. “Dylan was a little off his normal pace, but as the scores kept coming in and everybody else was coming in a few shots higher, we realized we were actually going to win.
"It was a learning experience in terms of no matter how bad you are playing, you must grind out every shot because they could all really count.”
The BA coach was especially pleased with his team's performance at the Davidson Invitational, which was held at Old Hickory Country Club. The Eagles shot a season-low 301 with four players posting rounds below 80.
Healey led the way with an even-par 71, while Davis posted a 72 and Broadbent and Emery each carded 79s.
“That was probably our strongest team effort,” Page said.
In the playoff, Healey sunk a clutch 10-foot birdie putt while Chan Schoerke and Emery both managed par despite hitting their approach shots missing the green.
Still, Page says the team must make improvements if it is going to win future tourneys and have a legitimate chance at the state tournament.
“Just to get two trophies is nice and it's a good experience because tournament golf is different than match golf,” Page said. “Our team is not lacking in confidence, but we haven't beaten the strongest teams in our region yet like MBA and Ensworth. That's why the next two or three weeks is crucial. I think we'd like to get our scores a little lower going into state too.”
The Eagles will get their chance to prove themselves against MBA on Friday at the Father Ryan Invitational. Both teams are in the field.
Ravenwood teams racking up early wins
Despite losing several veterans and the addition of several young players, Ravenwood High's boys and girls are off to strong starts.
The Lady Raptors have already put together wins over Centennial, Franklin, Independence and Summit.
The boys team cruised to dominating wins over Centennial (by 15 strokes) and Summit (by 41) while also beating Independence. Senior Jonathan Wise and sophomore Davis Baxter have played especially well with each boasting under-par averages.
“Our team is really coming together,” Coach Dan Hollandsworth said. “We are finding our game and really working together as a team. I am very proud of where they are going. They are a young team, but playing much better than their age.”
Bruins boys golf team undefeated so far
Brentwood's boys golf team remains unbeaten with a 26-0 record heading into Thursday's Battle of the Woods against Ravenwood.
The Bruins defeated Centennial 143-166 in their last outing, Sept. 1, at Forrest Crossing. Ryan Grundberg had the round of the day at 33, while Chris Tyminski carded 36 and Grant Lawrence and Elliot Marshall both shot 37s.
The Lady Bruins also won against CHS, 82-110, with Catherine Doyle scoring 38 and Sara Kleine-Kracht 44.
