Four deserving high seniors received checks made out to their next schools Wednesday morning. The Brentwood Morning Rotary Club presented its annual college scholarships to Rachel Clagett, Amulya Perviaje, Camden Hastings, and Clark Perkins. Rotarian -- and former Brentwood High School principal -- James C. Parker and club president Jim Wells made the presentations.

Clagett, a Ravenwood senior, plans to attend the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. She has served as president of the school's Interact Club, which is the youth arm of Rotary. She plans to student graphic design and advertising.

Perviaje, who also attends Ravenwood and has been secretary of the Interact Club, plans to study engineering at Vanderbilt.

Hastings, a RHS senior, will attend the University of Mississippi where she plans to major in pre-med. She hopes to specialize in pediatrics or radiology.

Clark Perkins, who will be Overton High's valedictorian, is also headed to Vanderbilt. He may double major in math and music. He will be marching with the Spirit of Gold band next fall.

"I only wish we could give more," Parker said of the number of scholarships the club gives each year. The presentation was made at the club's regular Wednesday meeting held at City Cafe restaurant.

Seniors entering four-year colleges in the fall were eligible to apply for these scholarships. Selection is based on academic achievement, community involvement, leadership potential, and personal goals.
