Ryan Bednar, a 2011 Ravenwood High School graduate, recently completed a successful freshman season for the Washington University in St. Louis.

Bednar, playing both safety and cornerback, saw action in all 10 Bears games and started five. He finished tied for the team lead in interceptions with three and was sixth in total tackles with 37. He also led the team in pass break-ups and forced fumbles.

For his efforts, Bednar received Honorable Mention status on the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) team. Washington finished the season with a 6-4 record and was second in the final UAA standings.
