RHS-BHS volleyball teams both undefeated in district Brentwood Home Page sports reports Yes, one Battle of the Woods will be fought Friday night on the Ravenwood football field. But another, perhaps more important one, takes place today in the Brentwood High gym.
At 6 p.m., the Lady Bruins volleyball team hosts the Lady Raptors. Both teams are undefeated in District 11-AAA. Brentwood, under the direction of longtime head coach Barbara Campbell, is a perennial competitor within the state. Ravenwood, under second-year coach Tracey Berry, made it to the state finals last year, losing to east Tennessee powerhouse Dobyns-Bennett, the only team to beat them twice last season.
RHS is anchored by Madelyn Hutson, a 6-5 senior committed to play for Texas. On Sept. 7, Ravenwood was ranked 12th in the nation by MaxPreps.
BHS lost no players to graduation and is seeking to return to state competition after a one-year break. Both teams have plenty of height and experience going into the match.
The 6 p.m. varsity match will follow a JV game that begins at 4 p.m.
