Restaurant-sports bar opens in 2 weeks near Kohl's; CarMax to move in across street
Updated 8:50 a.m. Tuesday By CAROL STUART Brentwood Home Page Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant/sports bar will open its first Williamson County location in the Cool Springs area in two weeks, and mega used-car dealer CarMax is moving to the former Driver’s Way lot across the street.
The first 100 customers on Jan. 16 at Buffalo Wild Wings, located in a new building in the Kohl’s parking lot at 320 Spring Creek Drive, will win free wings for a year, says general manager Chip St. Clair. It is the 10th BWW in Middle Tennessee including one in Spring Hill, at 1018 Crossings Blvd. in the SuperTarget shopping center.
“I don’t feel like there’s a true sports restaurant that you can bring your family to,” St. Clair said. “The others seem too bar-ry.”
While Buffalo Wild Wings officially opens at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 16, (Martin Luther King Day official holiday this year), about 120-140 typically camp out overnight for the grand opening prize and the store may open up sometime after 10:30 a.m.
The restaurant, also near the Cool Springs Wal-Mart, can seat about 250 inside and 50 people outside. St. Clair believes the national chain with a recognized brand will fit well with the area’s demographics which includes many Titans season ticket holders.
“We’re all about wings, beer and sports,” St. Clair said. “I think in this store we’ve got 65 TVs total, with five big screens.”
Hours for the Buffalo Wild Wings (phone 615-771-7724) will be 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday-Saturday, and 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday. About 140 employees are being added for the startup, with a lot hired already but several spots still to be filled right up until training which starts this Friday, St. Clair said.
The area continues being developed near the new McEwen Drive exit and Mallory, where Whole Foods moved last year.
CarMax, which already has Nashville locations in the 100 Oaks and Rivergate areas, will open its doors June 7 at 4075 Mallory Lane across from Kohl’s.
CarMax will offer around 300 vehicles on its lot and bring 75 to 100 jobs to the area. The store is approximately 13,965 square feet and will be fully renovated.
"Nashville is a great market for CarMax and we have a strong history in the area," said Britt Drewes Farrar, CarMax public relations manager. "The retail sector continues to grow, and we believe CarMax can meet added consumer needs with the added store in the Cool Springs area."
