Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood Fire & Rescue will get the community fired up again with their upcoming “Fill the Boot” drive taking place the first three weekends of August.
Armed with their firemen boots, Firefighters are aiming to help the Middle Tennessee chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association by seeking donations at various grocery store locations in Brentwood.
Last year Brentwood Fire & Rescue was the No. 1 fire department in Middle Tennessee in fundraising for MDA, raising $7,151. Brentwood Firefighters are hoping the community will help them spread the word and reach many in their mission to raise funds for MDA families.
Local firefighters have a 56 year tradition of serving children and adults with muscular dystrophy. Money raised by Brentwood Fire & Rescue is used to support local families with a variety of services.
The donations collected by the firefighters help fund the MDA and MDA/ALS clinics at Vanderbilt Medical Center and support groups, a week-long summer camp for children with muscle disease as well as fund vital research aimed at treatments and cures for neuromuscular disease.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to find treatments and cures for 43 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and community services, and far-reaching professional and public health education.
