Dr. Changfu Chang

Brentwood Home Page news reports
The Families with Children from China of Middle Tennessee group welcomes Dr. Changfu Chang to Nashville for a very special screening and discussion of his ground-breaking films Sofia’s Journey and Long Wait for Home at 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.

The event, held at University School of Nashville, is open to the public. It is free to FCC members and $10 per person for non-members. (Families interested in joining FCC may pay $15 for dues for the remainder of the calendar year.)

“Dr. Chang's first documentaries focus on families that have adopted, birth parents and their hard decision to give up their child, older children going to China to search for birth parents, etc.,” said Caprice Allen of Brentwood, who is president of FCC.

Chang, a professor of television and media, is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who has been called the “professor of adoption films.” He has produced, written and directed numerous films on the topic of adoption, including, Love Without Boundaries, My Unforgotten Daughter, The Willow Trees, and Daughter’s Return.

The film Sofia’s Journey follows the journey of a teenage girl during her search for her birth parents in China. Long Wait for Home addresses the often-present adoptees’ question of “why.”

Due to the sensitive content of the films, this is an adults-only event. Childcare will not be provided.

Please email caprice@fccmidtn.org by Thursday, Nov. 3.

Chang, a native of Jiangsu province in China, currently is a professor at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.
