Judge Elmer Davies Jr., age 85 of Franklin, Tenn., died November 27, 2011. 

Judge Davies was a graduate of University of Oklahoma and received his law degree from Tulane Law School.  A retired Reserve Colonel with the U.S. Marines, he served as county attorney for Davidson County.  He then went on to serve as District Attorney General from 1972 to 1982 and then Circuit Court Judge from 1982-1989 for the 21st Judicial District in Tennessee, serving Hickman, Lewis, Perry and Williamson Counties. 

After retirement in the judicial system he encountered the passion of a new path by way of culinary arts in France, to receiving certification as a bartender in Miami and hotel management in various locations.  He then purchased a hotel in the South Pacific where he found his dream that kept him occupied in his later years.

He was preceded in death by wife, Lucy Lee Davies.  He is survived by sons, Robert E. Lee (Robin) Davies, Franklin and Dan Clayton (Anette) Davies, Neuenburg, Germany; daughters, Luda Elizabeth Davies, Nashville, and Lucy Davies (Eric) Treene, Arlington, Va.; brother, Ed Reynolds Davies, Nashville; grandchildren, Lee Jr., Dawson, Sophie, Evan and Austin Davies, and Will and Lucy Lee Treene.

Funeral services will be conducted noon Monday, Dec., 2011 at Harpeth Presbyterian Church, 3077 Hillsboro Road in Brentwood with the Rev. David Jones officiating. Food and fellowship will follow after the service at the church.  Private family graveside will be conducted at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2011 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, 3009 Columbia Ave., Franklin.
