Situated just off Moores Lane and minutes from Cool Springs and I-65, it’s no secret that El Dorado Acres offers one of the area’s most convenient locations. But what really makes this older neighborhood special is its privacy and sense of community.
Just ask Karen Baxter, who has lived with her family in the quiet subdivision for 29 years.
“We love the location,” she says. “We’re right off the interstate and just a short drive to everything Cool Springs has to offer. And yet, it is nice and peaceful back here.”
That sense of seclusion enables residents to get out and enjoy their neighborhood, walking dogs or riding bikes up and down the quiet cul-de-sacs.
“It’s a great place to raise your kids because there’s almost no traffic,” Baxter says. “Everyone knows their neighbors, and kind of watch out for each other. So when the kids were younger, they could ride their bikes or even walk up to Sonic [on nearby Carothers Parkway].”
Built from the late 1960s to mid-1970s, homes range from traditional ranches to split levels. Most are built on half-acre lots, with mature trees adding to the sense of privacy. No listings are currently available on realtracs.com, which doesn’t surprise Baxter in the least.
“Houses do not come on the market very often,” she says. “We still have some of the original owners living here, and we’re just the second owners of this home. But the houses have good solid construction and nice floor plans, so people tend to hold on to them.
“And a lot of our people have renovated and updated over the years – things are kept up very nicely. It’s just the best-kept secret in Brentwood.”
