On Sunday evening, about 2000 of my closest friends in the Bubble gathered to hear Little Texas perform at Crockett Park.
Great music was the background for what I like to call the biggest spread in Brentwood. Does this town love its food or what? I saw everything from chocolate covered strawberries to yummy, mouth watering fried chicken (too bad that’s not on my diet). And based on the number of Publix bags I saw, I think the store must have been a popular stop before heading to the park.
I do have to admit, though, that my feelings were a little hurt when nobody invited me to actually “try” their food. Maybe you will invite me on Sunday when the Nashville Symphony takes the stage in the Eddy Arnold Amphitheater? I’m accepting all invitations and will provide list of favorites if you are so inclined.
Hands down Doug and Dawn Vincent win the award for best amenities at the concert. Don’t you just hate juggling your food at the concerts? Well, I do so play along.
Doug and Dawn’s son gave them a folding table that sits in the ground and holds wine glasses on each corner. Stylish and practical, at the end of the night Doug shared he just folds it back up and puts it in a handy dandy backpack. If interested in the table, I learned you can order one at www.Mydrinkdaddy.com. Although the table’s priced at around $250, it sure looked like a great addition to pack along with a chair, cooler and blanket.
One of my favorite moments of the night was when the lead singer came out into the audience and played his guitar.
And being in Nashville with so much talent it should not have taken me by surprise that two young brothers would perform with Little Texas and simply steal the show. Wow! Jackson sang “Unstoppable” and then his brother Taylor jumped in with a duet of “I want to be a Billionaire.” American Idol has nothing on these two for sure.
Girls Night Out Last Saturday was Girls Night Out with some of my Zumba buddies. Trust me, this isn’t a regular occasion for me, but I thought it would be fun to go out and kick up my heels for one night.
First we left the Bubble to dine at Pancho’s in Franklin. Then we headed to our dancing destination. Adding to the mix after dinner was my very own Ken doll. Married for almost 21 years, we don’t get out much. I know what you are thinking, who brings their Ken doll with them for GNO? Me. The peeps said OK, so away we went.
We got to Tin Roof on Carothers Parkway “early” – at least for most of its patrons. That would be around 9 p.m. -- or 30 minutes before my normal bedtime, so this was big, real big. By about 10 p.m. the place was beginning to fill up and the music started.
Oh, my former frat boy fit in the mix. Let’s just say he, “Got this party started…” Yep, I became the designated driver and the waitress gave me my own pitcher of water with a large plastic cup. Special.
We girls love to dance and dance we did. Finally my friend Maggie even got Ken up dancing.
That’s when a lovely little co-ed decided to converse with him.
“Hey, you gotta a good chance I think with that one,” she said, meaning lucky me. Gee, thanks chickadee for that heads up. Was it our wedding rings that gave it away?
My motto is if Ken ever decides to stray, “Congratulations, you are now the proud owner of four children and I hope the new model likes them! Have fun.”
Amazing the power of that statement to a man.
I was actually pleased with myself that I knew what “grinding” was and, hey, since I do Zumba, I know the moves, right?
In the end, Ken and I decided that while going out with the girls is a lot of fun and for someone like myself who is an avid people watcher, a fun sociology exercise, we were glad to be married as the singles market sure is different than it used to be.
For those singles reading this, have fun but be safe. Tin Roof, think we will visit you for lunch one day as word on the town is the food is good.
