E Spaces, Inc., held the grand opening of its second E Spaces business center in Cool Springs last week, located in the six-story McEwen Building near the I-65 McEwen exit.
E Spaces provides meeting and work space for entrepreneurs, mobile professionals and small companies that normally work out of home offices and coffee shops, but need a place to meet with colleagues and clients and to work for periods of time.
Large organizations use the centers’ state-of-the-art meeting space for off-site, but in-town meetings.
“The traditional office with four walls, file cabinets and a five-year lease no longer makes sense for most people,” said Phil Gibbs, CEO of E Spaces. “Think about it -- the traditional office was designed for paper file cabinets and typewriters.
"Now a person’s laptop, tablet, or even smart phone combined with cloud computing serves the same function that the ‘office’ used to serve.”
The company was launched in July 2010, with the opening of its first center in Belle Meade.
The Cool Springs location, at the corner of West McEwen Drive and Mallory Lane, is housed in the mixed-use development that includes Whole Foods and BrickTops.
Recognizing that people no longer have to be tied to one location, E Spaces is creating multiple centers that mobile workers can use as needed on a membership basis. The centers are more like an exclusive airport lounge than a traditional office.
The Cool Springs and Belle Meade E Spaces have an open, contemporary environment with a variety of workspaces, along with meeting and conference rooms that can be reserved.
There is super-fast wireless and conference rooms that are equipped with white boards and video displays for presentations and video conferencing. Copying and scanning services are provided along with a business phone number and business mailing address.
“We are excited about introducing the future of work to Cool Springs and believe that once people see E Spaces, they will never view the office or think about work the same again,” Gibbs said.
