Brentwood Home Page news reports
A single-car accident that caused a major power outage in east Brentwood on Aug. 23 resulted in a DUI charge and arrest of a Brentwood man.

Robert Cleaves, 35, 108 Autumn Oaks Court, was injured after he lost control of his 2007 Nissan Pathfinder travelling east on Concord Road and crashed into a telephone pole which resulted in damage to lines and other utility poles in the area.

The city’s primary east-west connector was closed for repairs to utility poles and wires after the crash and impacted rush hour traffic the following morning. NES responded quickly to the scene, but residents in the area were without power for an extended period of time.

Cleaves was injured in the crash and was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center by Williamson County EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

On Aug. 26, Cleaves was arrested and charged with DUI 1st Offense, implied consent and driving without a license.

I hope you will follow and report on this incident. I believe our courts are far too lenient on DUI offenders. Punishment should include repayment of all costs incurred by NES, Vanderbilt, and W.C. EMS. Very fortunate that there were no innocent victims.
