Each of the finalists – Mike Looney, Dr. Barry Carroll and Dennis Dearden – will spend a day in the county touring the district – including an early afternoon stop at Ravenwood High School, meetings with parents and senior staff, and undergoing a second interview with the school board.
Looney, currently superintendent of Butler County (Ala.) School District, starts the week’s activities off on Tuesday. Dr. Barry Carroll, superintendent of Limestone County (Ala.) schools, follows on Wednesday.

Dennis Dearden, senior vice-president of Partnership for Excellence in Arizona, concludes the visits on Thursday.
There are two opportunities each day for the public to meet and/or observe the candidates. Early morning public receptions will

be held between 8:15 and 9:15 a.m. each day in the Carolyn Campbell Room at the county’s administrative building in Franklin. Public interviews are scheduled from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., in the same room. For the evening sessions, the public must use the after-hours entrance located to the left of the main entrance.
The top three finalists were selected from a field of five candidates interviewed in July. The Board narrowed the field by using a matrix that ranked and scored the candidates based on those interviews.  Looney received the most points at 44 points; followed by Dearden, with 28, and Carroll with 23.
