Brentwood Home Page news reports
"Speak up for your values" is one message the Williamson County Democrats will hear when the Messaging Values Project appears at the party's monthly potluck Thursday, July 7.

The potluck is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Williamson County Democratic Party headquarters, 112 E. Fowlkes Street, off Columbia Avenue and five blocks south of Five Points, in downtown Franklin.

Guests are invited to bring a dish, but it is not necessary.  Children are welcome.

The Messaging Values Project (MVP) was formed by Democratic leaders from Williamson County and Middle Tennessee to study the science behind using language to shape public opinion. The MVP team will make the same presentation they unveiled in May at the Tennessee Democratic Party's statewide Values Summit in Jackson., Tenn.

"Most of us cannot be pigeon-holed as always lining up on a given side of an issue, but rather we have values that range widely," said Dr. Peter Burr, chair of the WCDP and one of the originators of MVP.  "Democratic leaders should speak out for our core values of equality and for every American to have a fair chance at participating in democracy and in our economy."

The WCDP has a monthly Potluck Dinner meeting the first Thursday of every month and holds Coffee Klatch, an informal discussion of issues, every Saturday morning.  The WCDP also includes WC Young Democrats, WC Democratic Women and WC Democratic Veterans Council.  All meetings are open to the public.

Special events and community service projects of the Williamson County Democratic Party include Feed Franklin First, Adopt-a-Highway, Town Hall Meetings on current topics, Williamson County Fair booth, Red Cross blood donor drives, voter registration drives, support of veterans and Operation Stand Down, Make It Blue Monday, maintenance of voter resources on WCDP website and fund-raising to benefit other Williamson County non-profit organizations.

The WCDP and Williamson County Democratic Veterans Council will accept clothing donations for homeless veterans every Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at party headquarters. Work clothes are especially needed, but all clothing donations for men and women are appreciated.  Clothing donations are turned over to Operation Stand Down Nashville.
