Vandals were on the prowl in Brentwood in the past week with one case even involving a vehicle ramming the entry gate into Crockett Park.

There were two other cases of vandalism, four general thefts, two thefts from motor vehicles and a residential burglary involving alcohol, according to Thursday's weekly report released by Brentwood Police Capt. Tommy Walsh.

No suspects were reported after a vehicle was used to ram the entry gate at 1500 Volunteer Parkway overnight on Monday, July 18.

Another vandalism incident took place at the Taramore Hownowners Association's community pool, 9506 Elgin Way, between about 8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, and Friday, July 15. Multiple items in and around the pool were damaged from landscape lighting to a stereo system and bathroom fixtures.

A vehicle's driver's side tires were slashed with a cutting instrument at a Brentwood Point residence sometime during 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 16, and 11:20 a.m. Sunday, July 17.

In the residential burglary, alcohol was the apparent target between 10 p.m. Thursday, July 14, and 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 15, at a Governors Way residence. A housekeeper found multiple unauthorized persons inside, but there was no forced entry.

The general thefts all took place at businesses. Two suspects were arrested at Best Buy, 1600 Galleria Blvd., for allegedly shoplifting a Sony MP3 player around 1:39 p.m. Sunday, July 17.

A shopper at T.J. Maxx, 330 Franklin Road, had her credit card holder taken from her purse around 1:18-2 p.m. Sunday, July 17. There were no suspects, but fraudulent charges were placed on the victim's cards at local retailers.

Checks were taken from a filing cabinet in an office at My Office Products, 111 Westwood Place, betwen noon Monday, July 18, and 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 19. Three black male suspects attempted to forget a check at a local bank.

Currency was swiped from a victim's purse at 5002 Maryland Way, the address of Taco Bell, between noon and 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 19.

In the thefts from motor vehicles, mudguards were removed from a Shays Lane resident's vehicle while it was parked in the driveway overnight on Tuesday, July 19.

At a Longstreet Drive residence, nothing was taken from an unlocked vehicle about 5:15-5:20 a.m. Thursday, July 21, but a white male juvenile suspect fled on foot. The suspect had dark hair and was wearing black pants and a T-shirt.
