Items were stolen from vehicles at Krispy Kreme, River Park and the Maryland Farms YMCA, and vandals struck Crockett Park, according to the weekly crime report.

The report, released Thursday by Brentwood Police Capt. Tommy Walsh, also included a residential burglary and a shoplifting incident.

A pressure washer, mower and saw were taken from an unlocked basement on Old Smyrna Road between Sept. 5 and Oct. 4

In the thefts from vehicles, a camera lens and purse were lifted from an unlocked vehicle at 1733 Mallory Lane, the Krispy Kreme address, at 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

A rear window was broken out of a vehicle parked at 1100 Knox Valley Drive, the address of River Park, sometime during 1:55-3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, but nothing was taken.

The front passenger-side window was broken out of a vehicle at the YMCA, 5101 Maryland Way, and a purse swiped around 7:45-8:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Fence panels were cut and pulled apart in the vandalism damage to City of Brentwood fencing at Crockett Park between Sept. 19 and Oct. 3.                                                                                                                    

A shoplifting suspect was arrested at Best Buy, 1600 Galleria Blvd., for allegedly stealing an electric shaver around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5.

For the life of me I cannot understand why the Y at Maryland Farms does not beef up security. Surely even a couple of Mapco type cameras might help. What will it take?
