Brentwood Home Page news reports
A trailer with multiple items used for parties, including inflatables, tents, and cotton candy, popcorn and snow cone machines, was stolen from the Tennessee Baptist Convention west parking lot on Maryland Way.

The weekly crime report from the Brentwood Police Department, released Thursday by Capt. Tommy Walsh, had a total of four general thefts and a theft from motor vehicle.

The 16-foot trailer was taken from the Tennessee Baptist Convention, 5001 Maryland Way, sometime between 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, and 7:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 12.

The "Block Party" trailer contained two 15-foot fun houses with air blowers; a generator; two 6-feet tables; two tents; four tarps; the cotton candy, snow cone and popcorn machines; a PA system with speakers and microphone; assorted cables and rackes; and a two-wheeled dolly.

Churches across Middle Tennessee used the trailer and contents to hold "evangelistic" block parties. The trailer was enclosed and had no markings, so someone probably took it for the trailer "and found out they had a whole bunch of goodies inside," a Tennessee Baptist Convention official said.

In a theft attempt, four vending machines at 1611 Galleria Blvd., the address of Sleep Inn, were damaged by forced entry but nothing was taken around 2:58 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Best Buy, 1600 Galleria Blvd., had an employee arrested for allegedly activating gift cards and then purchasing store merchandise, resulting in multiple items stolen from store inventory between Nov. 8 and Dec. 13.

A laptop computer was stolen from a hotel room at 9025 Church St., the address of extended-stay StudioPLUS, between 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14.

A temporary tag was taken from a vehicle parked in the Kroger parking lot, 330 Franklin Road, during 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7.

If you have any information on these crimes, please contact the Brentwood Police Department at 371-0160 or Crime Stoppers at 794-4000.
