Thieves continue to take advantage of those who leave behind purses and/or wallets in motor vehicles in Brentwood.

Three of the four thefts from vehicles reported in the past week took place at public locations – the Brentwood YMCA, Williamson County’s Indoor Sports Complex, and Brentwood United Methodist Church.    

In addition, two residential burglaries were reported, five general thefts took place, and four acts of vandalism occurred, according to the weekly crime report released Thursday by Brentwood Police Capt. Tommy Walsh.

Theft from motor vehicles

A thief broke out the front driver’s window to steal a purse and wallet from a vehicle at the Brentwood YMCA at 7:45 a.m.-9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 24.

The rear driver’s window was broken out from a vehicle at 920 Heritage Way, the address of the Indoor Sports Complex, between 4 p.m. July 23 and 5:15 p.m. July 24. A purse and wallet were stolen.

A wallet was swiped from a vehicle on Gracelawn Drive the week of July 17-23, and a purse and wallet were taken from a vehicle at 4:15-4:30 p.m. Friday, July 23, at 309 Franklin Road, the address of Brentwood UMC. Neither of those vehicles had forced entry.

Residential burglary

A wallet with cash and other contents was taken from a kitchen table at a home on Winchester Road between 2-4 p.m. Monday, July 26, with no forced entry.

A blower was stolen from a garage at a home on Sunnybrook Drive during the week of July 18-24.

General theft

A tandem axle trailer loaded with cross ties was reported stolen from a driveway near a residence on Murray Lane between 4:15-5 p.m. Monday, July 26.

Two bicycles were taken from underneath a porch on Titans Lane during the weekend of July 23-25.

Residents at Fountainhead Drive reported jewelry lifted from a dresser in a guest bedroom between 6 p.m. Sunday, July 18, and noon the next day.

A white female shoplifter with brown hair, wearing a pink T-shirt and shorts, stole a cordless drill, Sawzall and wrench kit and left in an older maroon Buick at 10:50-11 a.m. Friday, July 23.

Two suspects were arrested after attempting to purchase two weed trimmers from Brentwood Lawnmower, 130 Frierson St., using an account-closed check. The items were recovered.

Vandalism

In two of the acts of vandalism, suspects threw eggs at vehicles. Four juveniles were identified, but not prosecuted for eggs thrown at a vehicle on Saddlebow Dr. at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 25.

Two white females in shorts and T-shirts were seen leaving in a dark-colored sedan after eggs were tossed at a vehicle at Edmondson Pike and Smithson Lane at 8:20 p.m. Friday, July 23.

A vehicle was scratched while parked in a driveway on Sunnybrook Drive on the weekend of July 24-26.

Vandals damaged a mailbox on Arrowhead Drive July 25-26.
