Updated 1:30 p.m. Brentwood Home Page news reports Two Brentwood homes were broken into during the daytime and jewelry taken last Thursday, according to the weekly crime report.
There also were three vehicle break-ins, three general thefts and an incident of vandalism at Crockett Elementary listed in the report released Thursday by Brentwood Police Capt. Tommy Walsh.
In both residential burglaries, forced entry was made through the rear basement door and assorted jewelry stolen.
The house on Forsyth Park Drive in the Montclair neighborhood was hit during 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20.
The other home, on Waxwood Drive in the Belle Rive neighborhood, was burglarized sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. the same day.
“The two reported residential burglaries are certainly very similar in nature,” Walsh said. “We don’t have direct information to tie them together, but considering that the time frame is very similar and the mode of entry and target (jewelry) are the same, it is possible that they could be related.”
The jewelry in each case was worth several thousand dollars, Walsh said. BPD doesn’t have any reason to believe the crimes are related to the recent jewelry theft in Annandale or burglaries reported in Wilson County.
In the general thefts, a ring was taken from the victim’s room in an assisted living residence on Winners Circle South, during Oct. 10-11.
Costco had three shoplifting suspects arrested at 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, for allegedly stealing multiple DVDs. The suspects were linked to a imilar incident on Oct. 16.
Cash was stolen from a woman at 7120 Moores Lane, the address of Bank of America, at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25. The suspect offered to assist the victim with a vehicle purchase but left with currency. He was described as a black male, 6-foot tall and heavyset, last seen wearing khaki pants, a plaid shirt and a ball cap.
In motor vehicle break-ins, the front passenger side window was broken and a purse stolen from a vehicle parked at 920 Heritage Way, the Indoor Sports Complex, during 5:30-8:20 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20.
The rear driver’s side window was broken and a laptop computer taken from a vehicle parked at the Maryland Farms YMCA , 5101 Maryland Way YMCA, at 9-10:37 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.
A wallet was removed from an unlocked vehicle on Seward Court between 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, and 4:13 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23. Two male suspects of Middle Eastern descent used a credit card at Best Buy.
In the vandalism case, a concrete bench near the Crockett Elementary School playground was destroyed on the weekend of Oct. 21- 24.
