Brentwood Home Page news reports The Williamson County Parks and Recreation will participate in “letterboxing,” an ongoing outdoor family treasure hunting activity.
Letterboxing is an innovative nationwide family activity that combines navigational skills and rubber stamp artistry. Participants decipher online clues to the hidden locations of the letterboxes, find them and make an imprint in their personal logbooks using the rubber stamp found in the box.
Letterboxers also leave their personal stamp imprint in the box’s logbook and replace it in the same location for others to find.
Small weatherproof boxes created by WCPR have been hidden in 22 parks properties in the county. Families can learn all about letterboxing and how to test their navigational skills by following the letterboxing link at the WCPR web site: www.wcparksandrec.com or at www.letterboxing.org.
In addition to WCPR, there are hundreds of other letterboxes hidden in Williamson County and Middle Tennessee, plus about 20,000 nationwide.
