You may not know exactly where Concord Country Estates is located. But chances are, you drive right by the quiet subdivision on a regular basis. Located just off Concord Road, along the dead-end General MacArthur Drive, this cozy neighborhood features large, open lots and immediate access to I-65.

“It’s hard to imagine a more convenient location,” says Glenn King, who moved to the area from East Tennessee back in 1977. “Our son was in high school at the time, so naturally our realtor led us to Williamson County. And we found this to be a wonderful location. Kids can walk to school at Lipscomb Elementary, and we have easy access to Concord Road and I-65.”

Built from the 1970s, the subdivision does not maintain a homeowner’s association and offers no formal amenities. But residents enjoy large, park-like yards, and Concord Country Estates is widely known as one of the area’s most affordable neighborhoods. Currently just one listing is available on realtracs.com, priced at $250,000.

“We’re so much more affordable than most areas, and the convenience factor is great,” says Glenda Murray, who lived in the subdivision as a child and moved back with her own family in 2001. “But what I love is how close everyone is. When I moved back in 2001, some of the neighbors I grew up with were still here. People are so kind and friendly, and you see a lot of folks out walking and visiting with neighbors because there’s little traffic.”

And Murray says that’s not likely to change, thanks to 2010’s successful rezoning of the so-called “flagpole property,” which backs up to Concord Country Estates and neighboring subdivisions. Several rezoning requests were made regarding the 54.5-acre property, which is situated south of Gen. MacArthur Drive, north of the Mallory Park commercial development and east to I-65. But the city commission finally approved a plan that included a mix of commercial and recreational use, including the eventual development of a new park.

“We were very happy with the decision,” Murray says. “This is a nice, peaceful community, particularly at the end of the street, and we didn’t want to see that change.”

Glenn King agrees, noting that he is eager to hear more about plans for the park.

“This is a great walking street, and we’ve always been happy here,” he says. “We’ve thought about moving – the house is really too big for just the two of us now. But it’s so convenient. We can get anywhere we need to go quite easily, and that’s worth a lot.”
